1- Free meditation and mindfulness

Wanting to relax, release some of the daily stress or simply be more present in the moment? The Shambalah Centre offers various free public sitting classes throughout the week. Check out their website for updated schedule information regarding their different free weekly sessions.

2- Free Walking and Running Club

Ready to lace up those shoes, grab a bottle of water and get moving? Check out the Running Room's free sessions on Wednesdays at 6pm and Sundays at 8:30am. You can find them either at their Bedford location (Sunnyside Mall, 902-832-5240) or in Halifax (5514 Spring Garden Road, 902-420-0774). ​

3- Maritime Museum of the Atlantic

4- Discovery Center

​Location: 1215 Lower Water Street, Halifax
​Looking for a fun, educational or simply different activity that won't have your Walter crying? Why not head over to the Discovery Center on Wednesdays from 5-8pm when they offer free admission!  ​

Pavia Gallery at the Halifax Central Library, or simply see the great view from the rooftop balcony for free

5- Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

​Wanting to take in some great art, or more specifically, wishing to see Maud Lewis' famous home? Come over to the gallery on Thursday nights between 5-9pm when admission is free for this great activity.

6- Museum of Natural History

While this museum doesn't offer free admission, their regular price of 6.30$ for adults is certainly low enough for our list! Head over by yourself or with friends and family to enjoy the amazing exhibits.

The Alderney Landing market (at the Ferry Terminal, Saturdays 8am- 1pm) and the Halifax Seaport Farmer's Market (1209 Marginal Rd, Tues-Sun until 3pm) are awesome free activities. 8- Community Health Teams Programs

Locations: Halifax Regional Municipalities

From stress management, walking clubs and disease management, the free wellness programs offered by these teams are varied, offered throughout the HRM and sure to benefit you! Just make sure to call ahead of time and sign up (or register online) to take advantage of the amazing services offered - your participation might even result in new learnings and improved health!

9- Flea Markets

Just want to do a bit of window shopping or searching for a certain special item? The Halifax Forum hosts a flea market for only 1.50$ admission (2901 Windsor Street, Halifax) every Sunday 9am- 2pm, while the Harbourview Weekend Market takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 9am - 4pm with an admission cost of 2$ (42 Canal Street, Dartmouth). 

10- Free cooking class
