Beach Nova Scotia Storm and rain
Spending time in Eastern Canada can give you a new appreciation for mother nature's unpredictability. The sun might be shining through when you wake up, but by the time you get dressed and walk out of your door the rain is pouring down on you, only encouraged by the hurricane force winds. We came up with a list of 16 things to do on those unexpected (and expected) rainy and stormy days in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

16 AWESOME THINGS TO DO IN HALIFAX WHEN IT'S RAINING

1 - Stay dry in an Escape Room

Have you tried the escape rooms popping up everywhere in the city? These time limited group activities are exciting and get your brain going! So grab a few friends and head down to try it!

2 - escape the rain with Virtual Reality

New to the city is a virtual reality room. Give it a try and go experience an out of this world experience – right in your city.

3 - Relive your childhood indoor favorites

What's the last time you played glow in the dark mini putt, bowling or a game of laser tag? Grab some friends and go have a great time! Other fun-filled options include the trampoline park in Dartmouth, the go karts in Halifax or playing pool!

4 - Get active away from the rain

From sports such as badminton or soccer, or working out at the gym at one of the multiple facilities in the city, or swimming in one of the many pools in the HRM, there's bound to be a nearby facility where you can work off your energy while escaping the cabin fever!

5 - Treat yourself

We all have preferences between massages, pedicures, manicures or facials, but pick what relaxes you the most and enjoy it! (Bonus: find a location with underground or indoors parking so you don't have to walk in the rain following your appointment!)

6 - Climb to new heights

Why not check out one of the bouldering or indoor rock climbing where you can spend time by yourself or with your friends while testing your climbing skills and get a great workout while you're at it!

7 - Be an artist

There are multiple creative opportunities within the city, such as Paint Nite events where you get guidance in creating your master painting or Clay Café on Quinpool where you can choose a clay article to paint in your desired style.

8 - Go throw an axe (literally!)

There are many bars around the city with varying specialties and offers. The Timber Lounge is no exception, with the option of throwing axes while enjoying a drink (check with the bar before heading over as reservations are often required).

9 - Tour a brewery

There are many brewery tours available around, so pick your favorite (or maybe a few of them) and get learning about the process by which these local brews are made!

10 - Read a book

Enjoy reading a book home, or if the cabin fever settles in wander off to the Halifax Central Library located on Spring Garden Road for an amazing relaxing environment
filled with must read books.

11 - Take a class

Try leaving your comfort zone and venturing into a yoga, meditation, cooking, dancing or whatever other class that's peeking your interest but you haven't had time to try out!

12 - Visit a museum

With such a great selection of museums in the city, you will have a hard time choosing which one to explore! Popular options include the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History, the Museum of the Atlantic, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. For the young ones (and young at heart), the Discovery Center is also a great interactive learning-filled experience well worth a visit!

13 - Play a game

Why not invite some friends over to play a few board games. Don't have any board games or don't feel like cleaning up? No problem! Meet up at the Board Room Café where you can pick from an amazing selection of board games to enjoy with your friends.

14 - Cosmic Bingo

If it happens to be raining on a Saturday night consider trying the Cosmic Bingo held at the Halifax Forum on Saturday nights.

15 - Stay home

Whether you're watching movies, taking a bath, playing cards, baking or cooking, staying home is always a safe way to spend the day away from the cold damp weather.

16 - Walk in the rain

None of these options speaking to you but you want to leave your home? Why not just gear up and head out in the rain. Jump in the puddles and enjoy the alternative natural beauty created by the rain – who knows, by the time you make it out it might be sunny and warm again!
Regardless which ones of the 16 things to do in Halifax when it's raining you decide to try, make sure to have a great time!

I would be interested in a stroll through the public gardens. It would be peaceful, but if not able to do so I would try a yoga class.

Touring a brewery sounds like great fun, totally up my street. I also like the idea of the escape rooms. I didn't even know they were a thing.
